Magazine Spread

Magazine Layout Examples:

These are just some examples of magazine layouts I found online, looking at both the layout and positioning of text and images for inspiration for my magazine spread.

Creative Review Magazine:

This is Creative Magazines layout which is similar to Eye Magazine. I like the middle image where they have an image spread across the two page spread.

Emigre Magazine:

I like the idea of the first layout but I also think it makes it harder to read the text having a giant bold cross in between the text. The second layout is a simple basic layout and the third has too much white space in it especially the page with the images.

Raygun Magazine:

I don’t like Raygun Magazines layouts. This is because there seems to be a lot going on in the spreads from text to headings and the all seem to be on top of each other. I don’t think it is very good layout, and it would be better if it was more simple.

Contemporary Magazine Spreads:

The first layout has a lot of white space on the page with the text. In the second layout, there is too much going on in it, especially the text as it’s placed in a lot of different places making it harder to follow the text from paragraph to paragraph.

I like the layout in the above images of contemporary magazine spreads. The layout of type and images is interesting in them and works really well.

I like how in this magazine spread the colour from the image is incorporated into the text colour, which works really well by linking the two together.

I don’t think the layout of the image in the center of the spread works, as it’s difficult to see the full image with the center mark in the page.

Eye Magazine Layouts:

These layouts are from eye magazine. I looked at eye magazines layouts, as I was following there layout for my magazine spread.

Eye Magazine – Autumn 2004

layout1      layout2   layout3

I like the layouts above, showing the different ways images can be placed around the text. I like the third one as I think the layout works well with the body text. Even though there is only one column of text, I think it works well with the images making a good but simple layout.

Eye Magazine –  Summer 2001

layout7   layout6      layout3  These layouts are simple using three columns for the main text and some of the layouts contain images which are placed to accompany the text.

Eye Magazine Covers:

Here are some of Eye Magazines previous covers, which are all different. None of the covers are the same, each having a different style.
